The pandemic gave Martin Anderson and Curtis Bell the opportunity to come together to start From the Ashes BBQ in June 2020. Serving nose to tail BBQ out of their Hatch in Hackney Wick.
After meeting in Temper Soho in 2019, they’ve worked together to share their combined passion for BBQ and the outstanding produce the UK farm industry has to offer.
From the Ashes was originally set up as a delivery concept but diverted to a collection only as it picked up popularity in east London and proved to be the perfect outdoor spot for those long lockdown weekends.
The menu was developed to be that hearty meal, based around smoke, fat, fire and whole animals with a few quirky elements to adapt to their new home of Fish Island.
Since opening FTA, they’ve moved from strength to strength, holding residencies, festivals and events all over London, demonstrating a range of cooking styles all surrounding fire, with this continuing into 2022.

The second of our lunchtime Feasts from the Fire banquet, sees non other than GENEVIEVE TAYLOR, Live fire, and BBQ expert talk to the helm with a true taste of the American South; Genevieve Taylor is the author of eleven cookery books, including the bestsellers Charred, a complete guide to vegetarian barbecue, The Ultimate Wood-Fired Oven Cookbook and Foolproof BBQ. Her next book SEARED is all about good meat cooked over good fire, incoming this April 2022
Genevieve is a proud omnivore who is on a mission to prove that great BBQ isn’t just about Man vs Meat. Live Fire Cook, Author and Founder for the Bristol Fire School and her team at the helm cooking up an amazing Live five Feast.
Each course will deliver unique flavours straight from the fire.
What’s Included?
Each sitting will kick off with an aperitif and nibbles, followed by three deliciously unique courses. A long lunch wouldn’t be right without a glass of something in hand! So, enjoy half a bottle of White Beefsteak Club Sauvignon Blanc or half a Bottle of Beefsteak Club Malbec per person.

Included: four courses, an arrival drink and half a bottle of wine. Dietaries will be catered for – the team will be in touch closer to the time to check for allergies.

- Arrive to be seated @ 1.30pm – Festival entry at 9:00am
- Finish @ 4.30pm – You’ll be back grooving by the headliner’s set, don’t worry
